Environmental Management

Ecodevelopment has a rich experience in developing Geographic Information Systems as well as vertical management applications and updating spatial databases through large-scale mosquito control programs in 13 prefectures of the country in the last 11 years. Ecodevelopment preserves a fleet of 35 off-road vehicles for access to the most inaccessible areas while the company's greatest asset is its workforce, composed of 15 scientists working on a permanent basis (biologists, agronomists, chemists) with significant presence in the field work.

Thus, Ecodevelopment undertakes the recording, census and mapping of various environmental factors and quality characteristics within the administrative boundaries of a municipality, such as:
  • Urban vegetation (trees, shrubs, lawns) that aims to the rational management and protection of stock by the competent services of a municipality
  • Sites of pest infestation and development
  • Parasites breeding grounds
  • Liquid and solid waste recipients
  • Type of agricultural crops (and degree of infestation and productivity)
  • Areas of environmental interest

These operations are done by exploiting the possibilities offered by modern technology at GIS database integration and G.P.S. in order to provide certified management services of various environmental factors with subsequent rational use of resources, time and people of the Municipality. In general, the steps followed for the inventory of any element of environmental interest with aim to further rational management, are:

  • Recording and digital mapping with GPS devices the element of interest (e.g. trees, shrubs, crops, infection sites etc.) in Geo-referred image mapping background.
  • Production of a database of the characteristics of the element (biological, qualitative, quantitative, surveying etc.)
  • Database connection with the topographic background and production of thematic maps

Nowadays, in the modern information society, we have the ability, the means and the experience to provide timely, accurate and processed information. Our comparative advantage is the combination of knowledge gained through research and executed projects on GIS undertaken by Ecodevelopment the last 11 years as well as the continuous physical presence of scientists and technicians in rural, suburban, urban and natural environment in 13 prefectures.
